Prop H - Workforce Housing

Thanks to the support of Pflugerville ISD voters, the district is launching a first-of-its-kind workforce housing community designed for PfISD classroom educators. The development will feature duplexes, townhomes, and apartments, along with shared amenities such as walking trails, a pool, and community gathering spaces.

This innovative project addresses two critical challenges: rising housing costs in Central Texas and the district’s need to recruit and retain top talent. By offering affordable housing reserved only for our workforce, PfISD is providing a forward-thinking solution that not only supports educators but also strengthens student success.

Rent will cover maintenance and administrative costs, making the project fully self-sustaining so district resources remain focused on classrooms and student programs while ensuring PfISD employees have a place to live, grow, and thrive in the community they serve.

Benefits to Staff and Community

  • Provides affordable housing close to PfISD schools.

  • Offers employees a chance to live in the same community where they work and build connections with students and families.

  • Strengthens long-term staff stability, improving consistency and outcomes for students.

Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by creating a self-sustaining project that does not take funding away from classrooms.

Investing in the Future

  • Workforce Recruitment: District housing provides a powerful incentive to choose PfISD in a competitive job market.

  • Workforce Retention: Stable, affordable housing allows employees to remain in the district long term, providing consistency for students.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Because the project is self-sustaining, bond funds build the housing while rent covers upkeep and operations, ensuring taxpayer dollars continue to directly support classrooms and student learning.

  • Innovation: PfISD is the first district in Texas to create this type of workforce housing development, providing a unique, forward-thinking solution to an affordability challenge faced by districts statewide.
